So, what is Fire Emblem M.U.G.E.N.?
To start, Fire Emblem is a tactics turn-based strategy game, although it's also referred to as an RPG, or role-play game.
The series started in the early 90's, first released on the NES by Nintendo in Japan, and then moving on
with different games. Eventually the series spread out through Japan and became one of the biggest
hits in a short while, especially with it's characters Marth (FE1, FE3, FE11) and Roy (FE6)
making appearances in Super Smash Bros. Melee.
I'm Blazer (or that's my online nickname) and I own the Fire Emblem Shrine,
and if you haven't already found out, am a big FE fan. I'm also a spriter and a veteran
FE hacker, and a coder using the 2D fighting game engine M.U.G.E.N.
To be honest, nobody is sure of what MUGEN is, but using it's engine, other people and I
formed the "Fire Emblem Mugen" team to create characters and stages using sprites
from the GBA Fire Emblems as well as custom sprites to form probably one of the most
action-packed Fire Emblem games upto date. Unlike the actual games in the actual series,
characters can move around and fight using buttons, similar to Street Fighter or the
more famous Super Smash Bros.
Using M.U.G.E.N. my team and I (me being the leader) created the game Fire Emblem Mugen.
Originally it only came with two characters as a beta, and then 7 characters. The final release
before the team fell apart was Fire Emblem M.U.G.E.N. v2.0, with 12 characters
(and three secret beta-characters.)
However, I, the creator, stepped up again to reform this game. Enhancing my spriting
capabilities and overall knowledge of M.U.G.E.N., the game is being remade by me,
one of the old FEM team members, and anybody else who is willing to help.
To get this game going I created this here Dojo!, similar to the SmashBros. one,
and have started announcing new features like the Final Emblem.
If you need to know what FEM really is, then you need to play it. You can find old downloads
at the following page so you can play the old, not-so-good version of the game, and then think
"the new game will be 5x more fun than this".
